I envision an interactive product that goes beyond engagement during use—I hope it invites interaction before and after as well. This incense burner is inspired by the "Moon Rabbit" from traditional Chinese culture.
At its center, a rabbit-shaped incense holder is gracefully suspended atop a "moon" sphere. As time flows, the rising smoke collects within the sphere, resembling an hourglass, as if capturing the essence of time itself. Once the incense has burned completely, a removable insert beneath the moon can be taken out. Infused with the aroma of the incense, the insert naturally reveals various moon phases—full moon, crescent moon, and more—offering a poetic transformation tied to the passage of time.
What I find fascinating about this project is uncovering the cultural background and adapting the product's functionality and appearance to suit different target user groups. This product is rooted in Chinese aesthetics and culture, and my role is to rejuvenate traditional culture, making it more appealing to younger generations while ensuring its innovation and continuity.
